Calcifer is Howl's resident fire demon who serves as the moving castle's heat and power. Howl's Moving Castle is a young adult fantasy novel by British author Diana Wynne Jones that was first published in 1986. It was later on adapted as an Academy Award-nominated animated film by Hayao Miyazaki in 2004.
