Star festivals are celebrated in several Asian countries including Japan, China, Vietnam, and Korea in summer, on the seventh day of the seventh month (or the eighth month if going by the Chinese lunisolar calendar). This paper craft is based on a "sasakazari," a bamboo branch decoration used at the Japanese "Tanabata" star festival. It is said that any wishes written on a note card and hung on this branch at Tanabata are sure to come true-Canon
