The violin is a type of string instrument that can be played by vibrating its four strings with a bow. Although its origin and creator are not clearly known, it was used as a popular instrument that provided musical accompaniment for dancing until the mid-16th Century. Among the expensive violins, those made by Nicola Amati, Antonio Stradivari, and Giuseppe Guarneri are appreciated even today as "works of art".
